Bolt is the workshop. Apexloop is the operation.

In Bolt an app and its code take shape right in the browser. Apexloop deals with what happens to it afterwards.

Bolt.new vs Apexloop: at a glance

Bolt is a full development environment with AI. Apexloop is a business platform where you don't develop, you configure.

Bolt.newDevelopment environment in the browser
Code appears and runs instantly in the browserNo install, no environment setup. For developers and advanced users it's an excellent tool.
Billed by tokensEvery edit consumes tokens including context - with heavy iteration the cost is harder to predict.
You design and connect the data model yourselfThe database is an external service you have to attach, secure and back up.
After launch you need someone who reads codeEvery further change is an edit to source code, not to a setting.
vs
ApexloopA managed business platform
The data model is part of the platformDatabases, relations and views arrive managed - nothing is attached from outside.
Predictable pricing per userNo tokens, no working out what the next round of edits will cost.
Changes made by a non-technical colleagueA new field, stage or automation is a setting, not a commit.
Operations, backups and updates includedNobody on the team deals with hosting, library versions or security patches.

Bolt.new vs Apexloop: what you actually pay

With token billing the entry price is low, but it grows with how often you edit the app. On top of that comes everything the platform doesn't handle.

When Bolt is the better choice

Honestly: Bolt is the stronger tool when

  • you need real code you can take away and deploy wherever you like,
  • you're building a prototype or something one-off,
  • you have a developer for whom a browser-based editor speeds up ordinary work,
  • you've hit a requirement no platform covers.

Apexloop makes sense in the opposite situation: the system has to run for years, change along with the company, and nobody on the team wants to be the person holding the source code.

Where exactly the line between a prototype and a production system falls is covered in Lovable, Bolt, v0 and friends. What the three-year total looks like across three routes is in What a custom app costs.
